Himachal Pradesh is facing a mounting crisis as the death toll from rain-related incidents reaches 80, as per the SDMA. The toll includes 52 deaths caused by landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts, while 28 fatalities stem from other causes including road accidents. Mandi district has suffered the most, with 17 deaths linked to the heavy rainfall, followed by Kangra with 11. The report, covering the period from June 20 to July 7, also details casualties from various other incidents, such as electrocution and falls. Besides the tragic loss of life, the state has reported 128 injuries, extensive damage to homes, significant livestock losses, and infrastructure damage valued in lakhs. The monsoon season has brought a spate of flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, severely impacting several districts. Relief camps are operational, and rescue teams are actively working in affected areas. The authorities have issued warnings, urging residents to avoid hazardous zones near rivers and steep slopes.
