Himachal Pradesh is reeling from the impact of the monsoon, with a rising death toll and extensive infrastructure damage. The SDMA confirmed 78 deaths between June 20 and early July, with flash floods, landslides, cloudbursts, and electrocution responsible for 50 fatalities. Road accidents accounted for the other 28 deaths. Mandi district is the epicentre of the crisis, facing numerous road closures and disruptions to water supply. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri stated the state has suffered significant losses, particularly in areas like Seraj, Karsog, and Thalout. Restoration efforts are underway to repair damaged infrastructure, including roads and power lines, while the government focuses on providing essential services and relief to affected communities.
