Chennai police have determined that a recent bomb threat directed at the Poes Garden residence of Vice President C P Radhakrishnan was a false alarm. The threat, communicated via email to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, prompted a swift deployment of security personnel. This included the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a canine unit, which conducted a thorough search of the Vice President’s property. Officials have since stated that the threat is believed to be a hoax. The Chennai police department has noted an increase in similar unsubstantiated threats recently and is actively working to identify and prosecute those behind them. Elsewhere, a Delhi student’s bomb threat to their school, also a hoax, was motivated by a desire to skip examinations, highlighting the varied motives behind such disruptive incidents.
