In a move towards integrating families affected by Naxal violence and former extremists, the Chhattisgarh government is building around 3,000 homes through a special PMAY project. This initiative, backed by the Central Government, is targeted at families who don’t meet the standard PMAY requirements. The project is part of a wider plan to provide 15,000 homes. Already, housing approvals have been secured for 3,000 families out of 5,000 identified, with funds distributed to over 2,000 families. Construction efforts are making headway even in isolated, forested regions. Sodi Hungi of Sukma and Dashri Bai of Kanker are prime examples of rapid home construction, completing their houses in just three months despite the difficult terrain. This housing project is bringing positive change to the lives of those impacted by Naxalism in the Bastar division, providing them with a sense of security and a fresh start.
