India has voiced its disapproval of the European Union’s latest sanctions, reiterating its stance against unilateral measures. The Ministry of External Affairs, through spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, declared India’s commitment to fulfilling its legal responsibilities while rejecting such sanctions. The government views energy security as a paramount concern for its populace and advocates for fair treatment, especially in the domain of energy trade. This statement follows discussions surrounding NATO’s warnings about potential secondary sanctions targeting nations involved in Russian oil trade. India maintains that its decisions are driven by market availability and global dynamics, and it has cautioned against any instances of double standards. The NATO chief had previously warned India, China, and Brazil of the potential consequences of continuing to purchase oil from Russia.
