The Indian government, through its Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has voiced its support for the upcoming summit between the United States and Russia in Alaska on August 15. The MEA believes this meeting could be a crucial step towards ending the war in Ukraine and opening avenues for peace. According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, the meeting presents an opportunity to resolve the ongoing conflict and create a pathway to peace. The spokesperson referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that ‘This is not an era of war.’ India has thus expressed its backing for the summit and its willingness to contribute to the efforts. President Trump revealed the meeting’s date and location via social media, clarifying that the main focus will be on finding a peace deal for Russia and Ukraine. Speaking earlier at the White House, Trump also hinted at developments in the peace talks concerning the Russia-Ukraine conflict, indicating a deal was close to being finalized. He also mentioned that there might be a discussion about the exchange of territories for the betterment of both parties involved.
