The Indian Railways has instructed all railway zones to be extra vigilant during infrastructure projects. The Railway Board highlighted the frequent damage to signal and telecommunication cables, which results in signal failures. This poses a significant risk to train safety and operational efficiency. The Board emphasized that any lapses in following safety protocols could result in severe consequences.
The Board’s communication details the numerous ongoing projects across the country, such as track doubling, yard remodeling, boundary wall construction, the building of limited height subways, the implementation of Automatic Block Signaling (ABS), and the installation of safety systems like Kavach. These projects frequently involve activities that can damage or sever signal cables, leading to signal failures and operational disruptions.
