Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Sports Minister, has outlined India’s policy regarding sports with Pakistan. India has no issues with competing against Pakistan in international events like cricket and hockey, but bilateral series are not permitted. This decision aligns with India’s stance on Pakistan’s alleged involvement in cross-border terrorism. The Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, Bihar, presents an opportunity for India and Pakistan to face off. The Sports Minister has confirmed that visas will be granted to Pakistani players. The Asia Cup is a qualifying event for the 2026 Hockey World Cup. The tournament will include eight teams, divided into groups, with the top teams advancing. Additionally, the government plans to introduce the National Sports Governance Bill during the upcoming Monsoon Session, aiming to improve sports administration in India.
