Jairam Ramesh, a Congress MP, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack. He pointed out that after the Kargil War in 1999, then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee formed a Kargil Review Committee. Ramesh contrasted this with the current government, suggesting differences in political approach and the prevailing environment. He emphasized the lack of justice for the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attacks, which occurred in April 2025. Ramesh also discussed the upcoming 16-hour debate in Parliament on Operation Sindoor. He cited concerns from the Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, about tactical errors and Group Captain Shiv Kumar’s assertion that political decisions hindered military operations. He also mentioned Lt Gen Rahul R Singh’s revelation regarding China’s role. Ramesh also criticized the US President Donald Trump, who claimed to have brokered a ceasefire and hosted the Pakistan Army Chief, highlighting the contrasting approach of the current government.
