In a week-long visit, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit France and Belgium, focusing on strengthening ties with both nations and the European Union. The visit, from June 8th to 14th, includes strategic discussions and meetings with key figures like French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot and EU Foreign and Security Policy Chief Kaja Kallas. A key focus will be India’s approach to terrorism, with Jaishankar expected to brief interlocutors on recent actions against terror infrastructure. In Brussels, he will hold discussions with EU officials, including Kaja Kallas, and meet with representatives from the European Commission and Parliament. The visit also aims to further the strategic partnership between India and the EU, including the ongoing efforts to finalize a free trade agreement. Discussions in Belgium will involve consultations with Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot, covering areas of collaboration such as trade, green energy, and technology.
