A protest led by Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj, in Patna escalated when police intervened, allegedly using lathis and injuring a demonstrator. In response, Kishor declared that his organization would hinder the government’s operations throughout Bihar unless their demands are met. Kishor is insisting on a written commitment from the Chief Secretary concerning the issues raised by his party, with discussions currently underway with senior Jan Suraaj leaders. The protest was initiated as the group aimed to march towards the Bihar Assembly but was halted by police barricades, which led to a brief clash. Kishor also condemned the government’s disregard for the large number of child laborers in Bihar. Police officials confirmed that protestors were not permitted to proceed beyond a designated area near the Assembly and that they were open to receiving a delegation outlining their demands.
