A Hyva truck was set ablaze by criminals near the Phulbasiya railway coal siding in the Bariyatu police station area of Latehar. The incident, which happened late Saturday night, included the firing of shots and the distribution of a threatening note. The note, attributed to Rahul Dubey, specifically targeted those engaged in the coal business, demanding extortion payments. The criminals reportedly arrived at the scene, set the vehicle on fire, and fired shots before disappearing. Police, under the supervision of Bariyatu police station in-charge Devendra Kumar, responded swiftly, launching a search for the suspects. The police are currently investigating the matter. This incident aligns with a trend of extortion-related violence aimed at coal operators in the Latehar region. The threatening message left behind made it clear that non-compliance with the gang’s demands would result in severe repercussions. Law enforcement is working to bring the perpetrators to justice, asserting that arrests will be made shortly.
