An act of arson was committed by criminals in the Chamatu Colliery area, located within the Balumath police station jurisdiction of Latehar district. Two vehicles were set ablaze in the late hours of Friday night. Following the incident, a police team immediately responded, initiating an investigation and search operations to apprehend the perpetrators.
Reports indicate that a group of approximately five to six armed criminals entered the colliery premises. They proceeded to set fire to a Hyva truck and another vehicle parked nearby before escaping. Authorities suspect the act was an attempt to extort money from local businesses.
The incident is viewed as part of a larger pattern, as criminals have been attempting to assert their dominance in the region. Despite police efforts to curb criminal activities, these individuals persist in their efforts. The goal is to instill fear and disrupt the peace through such aggressive actions.
Kumar Gaurav, the Latehar SP, has confirmed the ongoing raids aimed at capturing the criminals. He assured that the criminals would be apprehended soon.
