Tragedy struck in Khunti district, Jharkhand, when BSF jawan Rahul Manjhi was found dead in the bathroom of the Murhu police station. The jawan was in custody after being accused of harassing a young woman. Following the suicide, SP Manish Toppo and DSP Varun Rajak, along with other senior officers, launched a high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The station officer of Murhu police station, Ramdev Yadav, has been suspended. The deceased, Rahul Manjhi, was on leave from his posting in Siliguri and had not yet returned to his duty. The incident occurred after Manjhi was apprehended by villagers and handed over to the police, who had been informed of the harassment allegations. He was subsequently locked up in the police station. Reports indicate that the jawan took his own life by hanging himself with an electrical wire connected to a ventilator in the bathroom of the police station.
