During a cancer summit held in Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar stated that the fight against cancer demands more than just medical intervention; it necessitates compassion and a collective sense of responsibility. He pointed out that cancer profoundly affects not only a person’s physical health but also their mental, social, and emotional well-being. In his address, the Governor emphasized the importance of human empathy, trust, and a supportive environment in the treatment process, alongside medical treatments. He also underscored the necessity of dedicated efforts for early detection and appropriate treatment of cancer, especially in regions like Jharkhand, where healthcare access is limited. The Governor acknowledged the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme’s role in providing free, high-quality care to the poor and vulnerable, and called for cooperation among medical professionals, hospitals, government bodies, and society to optimize the scheme’s impact.
