Child Assault: Girl, 5, Raped at Wedding, Suspect Beaten by Public

A horrific incident involving a 5-year-old girl has occurred in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The young girl was at a wedding celebration when the assault took place. The accused enticed the child with the promise of mangoes, leading her to a secluded garden where the rape occurred. The crime was discovered when the bleeding girl returned home in distress. Her family quickly recognized the severity of the situation and sought immediate medical care at Chanho CSC. Due to the gravity of her injuries, she was transferred to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi. Local residents, upon learning of the incident, took the suspect, Karmdev Uraon, into custody and administered a severe beating. Police intervened, rescuing the suspect from the crowd and bringing him to the Chanho police station. Based on the family’s complaint, a case has been filed against the accused under the POCSO Act and other related charges. The incident took place in a village near Chanho police station, about 30 kilometers from Ranchi. The accused, reportedly under the influence, lured the child with mangoes before committing the act in a remote garden during the wedding festivities.
