In the aftermath of a fatal incident at the Karma project in Ramgarh district, where four miners died due to a mine collapse during illegal mining, authorities have agreed to provide compensation. After a standoff between the local community, CCL management, and the district administration, a consensus was reached resulting in a compensation package of ₹8 lakh for the bereaved families. This was decided in a meeting held late at night which involved CCL authorities, district administration officials, and representatives from political parties. Under the agreement, the CCL will provide ₹1.70 lakh to each family, and the district administration will contribute ₹30,000 per family. In addition, one family member of each deceased miner will be offered employment through outsourcing. The deceased miners were identified as Mo. Imtiyaz, Rameswar Manjhi, Wakil Karmali, and Nirmal Munda. The agreement was signed by family members and CCL management, marking the end of the protest.
