Jharkhand’s political landscape is abuzz with allegations from Babu Lal Marandi, BJP State President and Leader of Opposition, who claims the state government is actively manufacturing new crimes to obscure existing criminal activities. Marandi asserts that fabricating offenses to hide the truth has become a disturbing norm within the state’s governance and law enforcement machinery. The recent ED investigations into the widespread coal mafia operations in Dhanbad have brought to light significant and disturbing revelations. Most concerningly, it’s reported that influential police officers, benefiting from illicit coal trade proceeds, have issued ‘targets’ to eliminate foot soldiers of the coal mafia, effectively silencing them forever.
Sources indicate that individuals under ED scrutiny are now facing assassination plots to ensure their silence and prevent crucial information from emerging. Marandi drew parallels to past events in the state where ‘evidence encounters’ were staged to appear as law enforcement successes. He referenced a notorious former DGP accused of taking contracts for fake encounters, branding him the most corrupt official Jharkhand has ever seen, with even ruling party members leveling accusations. The opposition leader cautioned the ED to be highly vigilant, stating that suppression of truth, rather than its revelation, dictates the power dynamics in Jharkhand. He concluded that when political power, the administrative system, and criminal syndicates converge, the denial of justice becomes an inevitable outcome.
