Ranchi is grappling with a violent crime after a young woman, Manisha Tirkey, was shot in the back while riding her scooter in the Adchoro railway crossing area of Nagdi police station on Saturday night. The incident left her severely injured and she is currently receiving treatment at RIMS. Manisha, an employee at a medicine shop in Kathal More, was reportedly on her way home after work.
Her brother, Bablu Tirkey, recounted that Manisha was returning home with a friend on her scooter. After parting ways with her friend near Lada Chowk, she proceeded alone. A motive behind the attack remains unclear, but her brother did reveal that Manisha’s wedding had been recently fixed in Bartola village, Lodhma. The family had just returned from a visit when they received the distressing news. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the attack. Rural SP Praveen Pushkar stated that preliminary findings suggest three assailants on two motorcycles were responsible for the shooting and that efforts are being made to apprehend them.
