Dr. S.C. Dubey, the current Vice-Chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), has been given the additional responsibility of the Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand State Open University by Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, who is also the Chancellor. Dr. Dubey will be in charge of the routine functions until further instructions are given. Any decisions concerning policy matters will require the approval of the Chancellor. Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, has released the relevant notification. The term of Dr. Triveninath Sahu, the former Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand State Open University, concluded on July 4th, after a three-year term. The Raj Bhavan had also issued an advertisement for the recruitment of a new Vice-Chancellor. The selection process will be managed by a search committee. Dr. S.C. Dubey is scheduled to assume the charge on July 5th. In the meantime, other universities are being overseen by existing VCs including Pro. D.K. Singh, Pro. Anjila Gupta and Anjani Kumar Mishra, who are handling the responsibilities of Ranchi University, Women’s University Jamshedpur and DSPMU respectively.
