In 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had nominated Suryanarayan Hansda, also known as Surya Hansda, as its candidate from the Borio assembly seat. However, after not receiving a ticket in the 2024 assembly elections, Surya Hansda left the BJP. He contested the elections from the Borio assembly seat on the JLKM Party’s symbol but was unsuccessful. Hansda had contested elections four times from the Borio assembly seat but faced defeat each time.
