A comprehensive inspection of the Gaya Bridge Underpass widening project was conducted by Dhanbad’s Deputy Commissioner, Aditya Ranjan, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Prabhat Kumar. This vital project, once completed, is expected to significantly improve connectivity and resolve decades-old traffic woes for the city’s inhabitants. The target completion is set for December 2026, with an ambition to finish even sooner through expedited work.
The complex nature of the project necessitates close coordination between various government bodies, including water, power, roads, the municipal body, railway authorities, and telecommunication services. The elevated railway line above the construction site, which carries significant national train traffic, adds another layer of logistical challenge.
To ensure seamless execution, all relevant departmental officials were summoned to the site during the inspection. Strict directives were issued to adhere to the project schedule and prevent any impediments to the widening work. A forward-thinking suggestion was made to incorporate a dedicated utility corridor. This will facilitate the organized placement of water, drainage, gas lines, and potentially pedestrian pathways, ensuring easier access for future maintenance and preventing future construction disruptions.
