In the ongoing by-election for the 45-Ghatshila (Scheduled Tribe) Assembly constituency in East Singhbhum, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate, Somesh Chandra Soren, has consolidated his lead. As the sixth round of counting concludes, Soren has garnered an impressive 27,467 votes. He is currently leading by a margin of 6,217 votes over the BJP’s Babulal Soren, who has secured 21,250 votes. Candidates from other parties and independent contestants are significantly behind. Ramdas Murmu of the Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front has received 6,061 votes. Among independents, Dr. Shrilal Kisku has 431 votes, Manas Ram Hansda 394, Vikas Hembram 264, and Manoj Kumar Singh 137. The Bharat Adivasi Party’s nominee, Panchanan Soren, has obtained 239 votes. The People’s Party of India (Democratic) candidate, Parvati Hansda, has received 106 votes, with many other independents trailing with under 100 votes. NOTA has recorded 827 votes so far.
