A devastating event unfolded in the Sarbiza village of Kumarudungi police station area, West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, where a young girl lost her life. Hasita Das, a fifth-grade student, drowned in a village pond while trying to collect a lotus flower. The incident happened on a Sunday when she and her two friends were exploring the village. Witnessing a blooming lotus flower, Hasita was captivated and ventured into the pond. Sadly, she slipped and began to drown. Her friends quickly informed the villagers and Hasita’s family. Immediate rescue attempts were made, but tragically, the girl could not be saved. This incident underscores the potential hazards associated with unsupervised water activities and the importance of safety precautions around such areas.
