The deceased girlfriend, identified as Lalita, had refused to marry her boyfriend. As a result, the boyfriend devised a plan, called her to meet him under a false pretext, and brutally murdered her, dumping her body in a drain. When Lalita did not return home, her family filed a missing person report at the Mahespur police station in Pakur. On September 2, 2025, the decomposed body of a young woman was recovered from a drain near Budharpokhar village within the Mahespur police station area. Investigations revealed the deceased was Lalita Marandi, whose family had filed a missing person report. A special investigation team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case, headed by SDPO Vijay Kumar, which included police from the Mahespur police station. The SIT team began questioning local residents and examining technical aspects. Information surfaced that the deceased, Lalita Marandi, was in a relationship with a young man named Vijay Hembram. Vijay wanted to marry Lalita, but she was refusing. Vijay was very upset by this.
