The check dam situated near Pahad Toli village, in the Karra block, built two years prior, was breached on Sunday following two days of intense rainfall. The collapse led to the ruination of crops belonging to numerous farmers in Pahad Toli village. According to the local farmers, the contractor’s negligence in constructing the guard wall during the check dam’s construction was the primary reason for the dam’s failure to manage the powerful water currents. There are reports suggesting the dam’s construction was misplaced. The farmers of Pahad Toli village are appealing to the authorities to probe the anomalies in the check dam’s construction and to award suitable compensation to the impacted farmers.
