Tragedy struck in Jirapara village, within the jurisdiction of Chakulia police station in Jamshedpur, as a son took his mother’s life using a sharp weapon. The assailant, identified as Jabbar Singh, allegedly attacked his 77-year-old mother, Sudha Bala Devi, resulting in her death. In a dramatic turn of events, the accused turned himself in at the police station on Thursday morning, admitting his guilt.
The fatal incident took place on Wednesday night. The deceased was found lying on a cot within her residence. It is understood that Jabbar Singh was alone at home at the time, as his son, Mangal Singh, had gone to his wife’s family home. A domestic quarrel is being cited as the probable cause for this extreme act of violence.
Authorities were alerted and immediately dispatched officers to the crime scene. An investigation is in progress, and the victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem. The community was visibly disturbed, with many villagers gathering at the deceased’s home. Police are questioning the suspect, Jabbar Singh, and efforts are being made to locate the weapon used in the murder. They are also seeking to interview Mangal Singh to gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances leading to the fatal confrontation.
