A new scheme promises significant financial relief for landowners in the Chitra colliery region. The initiative offers a transparent and beneficial annuity plan for landholders. This will directly impact villagers in Jharkhand and West Bengal who have been affected by land acquisition. The government has introduced a lump-sum compensation option alongside an annuity scheme, designed to support numerous families. According to colliery agent Umesh Prasad Choudhary, this is a crucial step, especially for those whose land is involved in land development projects. The scheme aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and sustained benefits. Comprehensive documentation will be available shortly. The maximum compensation in Jharkhand will be up to ₹20 lakh per acre.
