A yellow alert has been issued by the weather department, warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in four districts of Jharkhand today, July 9th. The affected districts are Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, and West Singhbhum. While these areas face the brunt of the weather, the other 20 districts are expected to experience clearing skies, with occasional cloud cover and a chance of light showers. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand has indicated a temporary break from the persistent rain on July 10th and 11th. However, the impact of a cyclonic circulation is anticipated to re-emerge from July 12th, potentially bringing more widespread rainfall across the state. The weakening of this system is attributed to its shift towards northern Chhattisgarh, allowing for a brief respite. Simultaneously, a new low-pressure area is developing in the Bay of Bengal, suggesting a likelihood of further rainfall in the days to come. Khunti witnessed the highest rainfall on Tuesday, with 18 mm, while Ranchi received 6 mm. Bokaro saw almost 2 mm, and Jamshedpur recorded 15 mm. Dhanbad experienced the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, with 67 mm. Farmers are advised by meteorologists to ensure effective water drainage in their fields before planting, considering the current and predicted rainfall. They are also advised to sow crops on ridges, except for paddy, and to apply necessary pesticides after the rain stops and sunlight returns.
