A Gumla businessman, Vinod Agarwal, was murdered in a premeditated attack by three individuals who were arrested shortly after the crime. The incident took place on Sisai Road, where the assailants used a sword and iron rods. The accused, Anchal Bium Tirkey (Chikku), Juliman Minj, and Sameer Toppo, were apprehended by the police, who also seized the weapons and a motorcycle. The motive behind the murder was revealed to be a long-standing resentment. The prime suspect, Chikku, admitted that Agarwal had repeatedly insulted him and his family by calling them ‘thieves’. The suspects consumed alcohol and marijuana before carrying out the attack. CCTV footage confirmed that the three individuals were involved in the crime, with Chikku directly attacking Agarwal while the others acted as lookouts. The accused have previous criminal records, including charges of arms act, robbery, attempted murder, and molestation.
