The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jharkhand has arrested a Circle Officer (CO) in the Palamu district for taking a bribe of ₹30,000. The officer, Shailesh Kumar, was caught in his office while accepting the money. The ACB acted on a complaint lodged by Ajay Kumar, the former head of Itko Panchayat, who stated that the CO had demanded the bribe for the mutation of land. The complainant sought the mutation of land in the names of his wife and a friend’s wife. The ACB’s investigation confirmed the allegations, leading to the successful operation and arrest of the accused CO. This case highlights the persistent issue of bribery in the state.
