The ‘East Tech Symposium-2025’ (Defence Expo) commenced in Ranchi, marked by the presence of Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The event, held at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Khelgaon, is organized by the Union Ministry of Defence. Chief Minister Soren highlighted the importance of the event for the state and expressed confidence in its success in fostering advancements in the defense sector. He emphasized Jharkhand’s potential to contribute to the nation’s defense capabilities and pledged the state government’s support for the central government’s efforts to achieve self-reliance in the defense industry. The Chief Minister pointed out the availability of raw materials, including uranium, and the presence of established industrial units in Jharkhand, such as HEC, which manufactures key components. Soren expressed concern over the current state of HEC and stressed the need for collaboration between the central and state governments to bolster industries. He noted the presence of the Defence Chief of the Indian Armed Forces and recognized the positive initiatives in the MSME sector, assuring that the state government would fully support the defense sector. The Defence Expo showcased expertise from across the defense sector, including participation from industrial organizations, technical institutions, and SMEs.
