A BJP MLA from Jharkhand, Dr. Kushwaha Shashibhushan Mehta, has voiced his discontent over not being allotted a room at the Jharkhand Bhawan in Delhi. He had previously booked and confirmed two rooms, but upon arrival, he was told only one room was available. He inquired about other occupants, but the information provided was unsatisfactory. In response, the MLA began a protest by sitting on the floor near the reception and eating his breakfast. Mehta questioned the functioning of the Jharkhand Bhawan, built at a significant cost by the state government. He demanded that Chief Minister Hemant Soren take action to rectify the situation, ensuring the building is efficiently managed and accessible to Jharkhand’s legislators. The Jharkhand Bhawan, a state-of-the-art facility in Connaught Place, Delhi, opened on September 3, 2024. The seven-story building, constructed at a cost exceeding 100 crore rupees, houses 50 guest rooms, VIP suites, and special accommodations for dignitaries. The building covers a total site area of 2808 square meters, with 45 guest rooms, 18 suite rooms, and 2 VVIP suites. The fifth and sixth floors contain eight VIP suites each, totaling 16 VIP suites, with the seventh floor exclusively reserved for the Chief Minister and Governor.
