In an ongoing effort to eliminate Naxal influence, security forces in Jharkhand achieved a major victory in West Singhbhum district. A joint operation involving police, Jharkhand Jaguar, Cobra Battalion, and CRPF personnel led to an encounter in the Chaibasa area on Sunday morning. During the confrontation, Amit Hansda, a prominent Zonal Commander, was killed. The Jharkhand government had placed a 10-lakh-rupee bounty on his head. Security forces also seized an SLR rifle and other materials from the site. Following intelligence regarding the presence of Naxalites planning an attack near Relaparal village, the forces launched the operation. Upon approaching the village, security personnel faced gunfire from the Naxalites, triggering an immediate response. The exchange resulted in the death of Amit Hansda, who was identified at the scene. Hansda had a long history of involvement in Naxal activities and was responsible for several violent acts. This successful operation is considered a significant achievement for the police and paramilitary forces, undermining the Naxal organization’s morale and network. A comprehensive search and cordon operation is now in progress, as authorities believe other Naxal elements might be hiding. This action is the second major success for security forces in recent times; the previous one involved the killing of PLFI supremo Martin Kerketta in Gumla district on August 6th.
