The Meteorological Department has issued a warning about heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in the Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra districts of Jharkhand on August 23rd. An orange alert has been issued. The department predicts favorable rainfall conditions across the state for the next five days, and it has advised people to exercise caution. Residents of low-lying areas are especially cautioned. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand explained that the heavy rainfall could be accompanied by strong winds (30-40 kmph) and lightning. He also warned about potential waterlogging in low-lying areas, which could lead to damage to vulnerable housing and also the risk of falling trees. The recent spell of rain has disrupted daily life in Ranchi and other parts of the state. Over the past 24 hours, Saraikela Kharsawan recorded the highest rainfall, with 67.2 millimeters. Ranchi saw 12.2 millimeters of rainfall. On Friday, the maximum temperature in Ranchi was 29.8 degrees Celsius, Jamshedpur 30.8 degrees, Daltonganj 33.6 degrees, Bokaro 32.1 degrees, and Chaibasa 32.8 degrees.
