A tiny hippo has arrived at the Birsa Zoological Garden, bringing joy to the zoo. Lily, the resident hippo, gave birth to a healthy calf on July 2nd. This newest arrival joins a family that includes Lily, a male hippo named Lalu, and several other offspring. The newborn hippo, along with its mother, is attracting a lot of attention from visitors. The zoo is providing special care to the mother, Lily, with multivitamins to boost milk production and ensure the baby’s healthy development. The zoo’s history with hippos dates back to 2008 when two were brought from Mysore. After the loss of one, Lalu has been the sole male hippo until now. Lily was brought to Birsa Zoo from Nandankanan Zoo, Odisha, in 2014.
