An alarming incident unfolded on the Torpa main road in Khunti, near Gupta Hardware, as a trailer truck’s uncontrolled roll caused significant damage. The trailer was reportedly parked near Mahadev Fruit shop when it unexpectedly began rolling backward. The driver had reportedly stepped away to purchase fruit at the time of the incident. The vehicle gained momentum, traveling about 200 meters before crashing into a tempo that was parked nearby. The collision was forceful, resulting in the complete destruction of the tempo. Adding to the damage, an electricity transformer situated close to the accident site was also impacted and rendered inoperable. While the absence of casualties is a significant relief, the potential for severe injuries was high given the circumstances. The local community swiftly intervened, bringing the situation under control and informing the relevant power authorities. Law enforcement officials have visited the scene, documented the incident, and initiated an investigation.
