Senior citizens at the Jhumritilaiya Old Age Home in Koderma benefited from a comprehensive medico-legal awareness and medical check-up camp. Spearheaded by the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, and following directives from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, the event aimed to empower the elderly with legal knowledge and accessible healthcare. A significant part of the program involved a live online viewing from Ranchi, where the executive chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority formally opened the Mother Teresa Clinic at the Nagri Old Age Home. This virtual ceremony also included the distribution of various benefits, including vital medical support, to the senior residents there. The chief guest, the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, underscored the paramount importance of respecting senior citizens as a civic duty. He affirmed the District Legal Services Authority’s unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and fundamental freedoms of the elderly, ensuring no one’s rights are violated. The judge spoke passionately about how respecting elders is fundamental to personal growth and expressed the authority’s honor in serving this demographic. He encouraged the younger generation to embrace the guidance of seniors and to be considerate of their daily needs. The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority reaffirmed their pledge to offer pro bono legal assistance to the elderly, standing firm in their pursuit of justice and rights for this vulnerable group. He committed to providing all possible support for the welfare and convenience of the old age home’s residents. Medical professionals from the Koderma Health Department conducted thorough health assessments for all attendees. The Principal District Judge directed the healthcare team to maintain consistent health check-ups and ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines. He also took the opportunity to engage directly with the residents, assessing their living conditions and personal welfare. In a gesture of goodwill and support, the District Legal Services Authority and District Administration jointly provided essential winter supplies such as blankets, shawls, caps, woolen garments, sweets, and other necessities to the senior citizens.
