In a significant operation, Khunti police have apprehended three members of the banned People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) from the Baksapur Jhanda Tongri forest. The arrests were made on Friday, and the individuals have been identified as Gendra Barla alias Laden, Asim Topno, and Ajit Topno alias Duda. The police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, PLFI leaflets, and mobile phones from the suspects. According to SP Manish Toppo, the police acted swiftly on receiving intelligence that PLFI members were planning an act of violence in the forest. A raid was conducted by a team under SDPO Christopher Kerketta, resulting in the arrest of the three individuals. They have been remanded to judicial custody. The SP further revealed that the arrested individuals were involved in setting fire to a road roller in the Rania area on May 26. During interrogation, they confessed to the act, stating their intention to create fear. Gendra Barla, known as Laden, has a previous criminal record and was previously arrested under the Arms Act in 2020. After his release from jail, he rejoined the PLFI and was active in expanding its operations. The raiding team included key officials from Torpa and Rania police stations, alongside armed forces personnel.
