In a significant operation against the illegal liquor trade, police in the Chirakunda and Kalubathan regions of Dhanbad district seized a large quantity of alcohol. The joint operation, carried out late Wednesday night, targeted illicit activities in the area. Law enforcement confiscated both local and foreign brands of alcohol. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal trade. The police have intensified their search for other suspects who are currently evading capture. Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla briefed the media about the operation on Thursday at the Maithon office. He stated that the raids were part of a larger effort to curb the production and sale of illegal liquor, which were conducted under the guidance of senior police officials. The police raided Raghunath Tudu’s residence in Kaithardih village, Kalubathan, and seized a large amount of alcohol. Mangal Tudu, a liquor vendor, was arrested at the scene. During interrogation, he revealed the names of other individuals involved in the illegal trade. The police are currently seeking these suspects. A separate raid at a hotel near the Junkundar phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area led to the seizure of a substantial amount of foreign and country liquor. The hotel operator attempted to escape but was caught by the police. The arrested individuals have been taken into custody and charged under the appropriate laws. SDPO Bakhla confirmed that the police would continue their efforts to eliminate the illegal alcohol trade and would take strict action against anyone involved.
