The Ranchi Civil Court has delivered a life sentence to three individuals implicated in the murder of land dealer Kamal Bhushan, who was assassinated on May 30, 2022. The murder took place in the Sukhdev Nagar police station area on Devi Mandap Road in Ranchi. The convicted are W. Kujur, the victim’s former business partner, his son Rahul Kujur, and Kavis Adnan. The court, presided over by Additional Judge Anand Prakash, also imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on each of the accused. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional six months of imprisonment. Two other individuals, Sushila Kujur and a government witness named Munwar Afaq, were acquitted due to insufficient evidence. The case highlights the fallout from a family dispute, with the marriage of Bhushan’s daughter, Yamini, to Rahul Kujur, leading to conflict. Prior to the murder, there was an incident where shots were fired at Yamini and Rahul near Sadabahar Chowk in the Namkum police station area. Following this, the relationship between the families soured to the point where W. Kujur and his son were implicated in the hiring of a shooter to kill Kamal Bhushan.
