Ranchi is preparing for the arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will attend the Eastern Zonal Council meeting on July 10th. The meeting will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu, and Shah will preside over the proceedings. The council consists of representatives from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal. Security has been heightened in the city ahead of the meeting. The agenda includes discussions on various topics of national importance such as the investigation of sexual offenses, implementation of fast-track courts, and strengthening of essential services like education and healthcare. Jharkhand is also expected to raise the issue of pending dues from Coal India and other public sector entities, amounting to ₹1.36 lakh crore. Traffic restrictions, including a ban on auto-rickshaws between Birsa Chowk and Sujata Chowk, have been announced for July 10th. The meeting was previously postponed due to tensions between India and Pakistan.
