The passing of Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has been announced. He had been battling illness for an extended period and was receiving medical care at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. The news of his death was shared by Chief Minister Hemant Soren via a poignant post on X, previously known as Twitter. In his message, he stated, “Respected Dishom Guruji has departed from us all. Today, I am filled with emptiness.” Shibu Soren, widely recognized as ‘Dishom Guru’ across the state, was a prominent figure in the movement advocating for the establishment of Jharkhand as a separate state. His birth took place on January 11, 1944, in the village of Nemra, located in the Ramgarh district. The course of his political journey began following the murder of his father, and throughout his life, he remained steadfast in his commitment to championing the rights of the tribal community.
