In a heartbreaking event, four high school students from Dumka and Godda districts lost their lives in the Mayurakshi River in Jharkhand. The victims, all in their late teens, were enjoying an outing on Thursday when they decided to swim in the river. The river’s current was extremely strong due to recent heavy rains, and the students were quickly overwhelmed. Witnesses alerted the authorities after noticing the students’ belongings abandoned on the riverbank. Rescue teams, including local divers, were deployed immediately. After a prolonged search, the bodies of the four students were recovered from the river. The incident has deeply affected the local communities, with the families of the deceased expressing their profound sorrow. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations. This unfortunate event highlights the hidden dangers of natural water bodies during periods of intense rainfall, urging people to exercise extreme caution.
