Jharkhand is mourning the loss of its veteran leader, Shibu Soren, with widespread calls for him to be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna. Minister Irfan Ansari, expressing his condolences, urged the President to recognize Soren’s contributions by awarding him the nation’s highest civilian honor. He emphasized Soren’s role as a revolutionary and champion of the poor. Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav also joined the chorus, remembering Soren as a symbol of humanity who fought for the rights of the underprivileged. The minister reflected on the deep sense of loss in Jharkhand following the demise of Dishom Guru, stating that his absence would be deeply felt. The demand for the Bharat Ratna stems from Soren’s tireless work for the marginalized, his advocacy for the rights of the poor, and his leadership in the Jharkhand movement. The leader’s life was dedicated to the struggle for water, forests, and land rights, and he played a key role in organizing the tribal community. His legacy is seen as an inspiration for future generations. Babu Lal Marandi, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, also paid tribute, highlighting Soren’s role as a social reformer and his impact on the people of Jharkhand, particularly the Santhali tribal community who revered him as a deity.
