Police have arrested Shambhu Singh, an active member of the TSPC, an extremist organization. Shambhu was caught in Chhatarpur while attempting to collect levy. During interrogation, it emerged that he was involved in the encounter between the police and TSPC during the assembly elections. He was a member of Zonal Commander Shashikant’s squad. DSP Awadh Kumar Yadav explained that on October 24, 2024, the police were conducting a routine operation for the assembly elections when SP Palamu, Rishma Rameshan, received intelligence that TSPC Zonal Commander Shashikant Ganjhu and his group were planning a major incident in the forested hills of Turidag, Chhatarpur. A raid led to an encounter, with police seizing Naxalite materials. The extremists escaped due to the dense forest and police pressure. Subsequently, police learned that Shambhu Singh had arrived from Palwa Tola, Morchwa, Chhatarpur, to collect levy. He was arrested, and two mobile phones were seized. He has a criminal record with cases against him under the Arms Act and for Naxalite activities in various police stations including Manatu, Naudiha Bazar, Vishrampur, Rehla, and Chhatarpur. The operation involved key police officials and armed forces personnel.
