The political landscape mourns the loss of Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), who passed away at the age of 81. He died on Monday at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after battling a kidney ailment. Hospitalized since late June, his condition worsened, necessitating ventilator support starting August 2. Hemant Soren, the present Chief Minister and Shibu Soren’s son, shared the news of his father’s death on X. Soren had largely retired from active political life in recent times but remained a pivotal figure as the JMM’s founding patron.
