A symbolic strike was organized by municipal employees across Karnataka on Tuesday, targeting the state government. The protest, held at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park, involved employees from the BBMP and other municipal bodies. Workers across ten municipal corporations ceased operations to participate. The demands put forth by the employees include the elimination of the Logsafe attendance system, filling approximately 6,000 vacant posts, halting the suspension of employees for minor reasons, reducing marshal duties, and implementing seniority-based promotions for engineers. Protesters highlighted their need for government benefits such as KGID, General Provident Fund, and the Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme, as well as changes to promotion protocols. They expressed feeling marginalized, advocating for recognition as full government employees with commensurate benefits.
