The rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, organized by actor Vijay’s party, TVK, turned into a scene of tragedy when a stampede claimed the lives of 39 individuals, including women and children. The event was marred by an unexpectedly large crowd and a delayed entry by Vijay, the event’s main attraction. The DGP of Tamil Nadu stated that the assembly was permitted from 3 PM to 10 PM, but the crowd began gathering as early as 11 AM. By the time Vijay arrived at 7:40 PM, many attendees had been waiting for hours without adequate food or water.
