The investigation into the Karur stampede, which occurred during a rally organized by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is actively progressing. The police have initiated questioning of ambulance drivers who were present at the event on September 27th. The stampede resulted in a tragic loss of 41 lives and left 60 others injured. According to a Karur Town Police official, several ambulance drivers were questioned. The authorities are seeking information from both government and private ambulance services regarding the calls received and the deployment of ambulances. The police aim to determine who contacted the ambulance drivers and the number of calls directed to various hospitals. Earlier reports indicated that five ambulances, arranged by TVK, were positioned near the police quarters. Following the stampede, the police informed the authorities via microphone and requested assistance from the Amaravati Hospital. The National SC/ST Commission has also visited the site to assess the situation and gather information. The Madras High Court has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of Asra Garg to investigate the Karur rally stampede. Reports indicate that the court has criticized the officials of Vijay’s political party.
